Momentive to Launch Niax* Catalyst D-25, Tin Catalyst Free of 2-EHA, at Polyurethanes Technical Conference
A replacement for stannous octoate, new Niax catalyst for use in flexible foam applications
WATERFORD, N.Y. (September 17, 2013) -- Momentive Performance Materials Inc. (MPM) will launch Niax Catalyst D-25, a new tin catalyst free of two ethyl-hexanoic acid (2-EHA), at the 2013 Polyurethanes Technical conference September 23-25 in Phoenix, Ariz. MPM is introducing Niax Catalyst D-25 in response to the industry need for an alternative material without 2-EHA, which is a chemical listed on California’s Proposition 65.
A versatile material, Niax Catalyst D-25 may be considered for use in the production of flexible slabstock foam, including conventional, high resilience and visco elastic foam. Niax Catalyst D-25 typically yields high catalytic efficiency in the polyurethane reaction at similar use levels to the other common material for these applications -- stannous octoate.
Niax Catalyst D-25 is a clear, colorless to light yellow fluid with medium viscosity and excellent solubility in polyether polyols and most organic solvents. It has an exceptional ability to promote the isocyanate-hydroxyl reaction in polyurethane foams. Niax Catalyst D-25 is a TSCA registered product.
